Q: How exactly does consignment work?
A: The author or copyright owner (you) provides a finished product to the distributor (Proletariat Press) who lists and sells the item. Each month the distributor pays the author by check depending on how my products have been sold.
Q: Do I have to sign a contact?
A: Yes, you must sign a standard contract.
Q: Does Proletariat Press take a commission?
A: Yes, we take a commission of anywhere between 10-30% of the purchase price.
Q: Can I be sure that my work will be accepted for consignment?
A: No. We will not sell just anything. We will review your work as if you were submitting a manuscript for publication.
Q: Is there a minimum consignment amount?
A: There are no hard fast rules here. We prefer not to accept less than 10 items on consignment.
Q: Does this mean Proletariat Press is my publisher?
A: No. Proletariat Press is only the distributor.
Q: Will you promote my work?
A: No.
