Proletariat Press aims to publish the best underground poetry that's available today. We are willing to review and publish any exceptional work written by, about, or for the working class person. This does not mean however that we only publish work that is political in nature. Despite the name "proletariat," we have no requirement of a socialist perspective. Our only goal is to bring the public high quality writing at a fair price. It is our hope that by doing this we can expand the possibilities, the market, and the minds of everyday people.
Many main-stream poetry publications tend to over-chop, over-generalize, over-sterilize, and over-produce their authors in an effort to reach the widest audience possible and maximize profits. Proletariat Press is not interested in this. We like our authors like we like our poetry: raw and uncut.
Our only goal is to publish great writing, that's all. It's our hope that Proletariat Press readers will have this same mind set and will purchase our books not only because they believe in the work we publish but believe that there ought to exist an alternative to the sterilized literature that main-stream publishing houses churn out.
